General FAQs

As an enrolled student at the University of Sunderland, you are automatically a member of Your Students' Union! This entitles you to a range of opportunities that you can get involved in, from joining one of our societies, seeking academic (and other) advice from our independent advice team, or come to one of the many events and activities we run on campus and beyond!

The University of Sunderland Students' Union is a student-led organisation and is a separate from the University. Our main mission is to help shape students' lives for the future, and we aim to achieve this by amplifying your voices and providing a safe and inclusive environment where you can get the most out of your university experience. We're eager to hear your views - join one of our Union Council meetings, where you can influence the Union and Students’ Union policy, and speak about the things you are passionate about!

The main offices of the SU are on the Ground Floor of the Edinburgh Building, City Campus - but you can also find us in Your SU @ CitySpace!

You can message us on Facebook or Instagram, where we'll get back to you between the hours of 9:30am-4:30pm. Alternatively, you can call us on (0191) 515 3030, email us at yoursu@sunderland.ac.uk or visit the SU in the Edinburgh Building or in CitySpace.

The SU provides a number of services, including an advice service, societies, opportunities and events, and so much more!

Absolutely! Come and have a chat, browse our shop, or simply find a seat and relax. We can’t wait to welcome you to Your SU!

Our normal opening times are Monday - Friday 9:30am-4:30pm.

You can follow us on Facebook by searching for Sunderland Students' Union. Our Instagram, Twitter and TikTok handles are @sunderlandsu.

If you want to join or create a society, you can visit Your Societies on the website, then hit the Join Group button!

At the University of Sunderland, sports teams are run separate to Your SU by Team Sunderland.

At the start of the academic year, you should receive a talk from your programme leader or the Students’ Union about Course Reps, the role and what to expect.

You can book an appointment with an advisor through our website.

Volunteering with Your SU is a great way to make friends, learn new skills and boost your CV. We have lots of different opportunities available so whatever your interest, we have something you might be interested in.

Not sure where to start or just need a bit of advice? We're here to support you all the way. Check out our volunteering opportunities.

You can visit the advice tab on our website - 'Support' - where you can find more information and book an appointment, or email su.advice@sunderland.ac.uk.

Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to ship any merchandise oversees. Still, you can get your order delivered within the UK, or you can pick it up in person in our SU Shop @ CitySpace.

Due to some items being shipped directly from our supplier, delivery can take up to five weeks in certain situations. We are working hard on speeding up the process!

Absolutely. Just make sure you choose the 'pick-up' option when purchasing online.

Unfortunately our system does not allow us to send further updates relating to your order, so please don’t worry if we go a little quiet...we are certainly working on your order.

The stock of items is shown on the SU E-Shop page

Your SU is organising various Course and Society specific hoodies for you to purchase. All we ask if your course or society would like a branded hoodie is to let us know via email what you'd like.

Unfortunately we are unable to customise in any other way but if you'd like to check out what other courses/societies have done, please visit our online shop.
