Anatomy Revision Session - Join us in revising the foregut, midgut and hindgut! For students by students.
The ILOs that will be covered include:
Foregut
Identify the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum
Describe their position with respect to surface landmarks
Identify the internal and external features of these organs
Draw and label the branches of the coeliac trunk
Describe the blood supply of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum
Distinguish between parietal and visceral peritoneum, and describe its function
Identify the greater omentum, and describe how it is formed
Midgut
Describe the structures of the midgut including their position and function
Differentiate between the different parts and link with function
Illustrate the blood supply to the region
Discuss the innervation of the midgut
Correctly interpret imaging of the midgut
Hindgut
Identify and describe the gross anatomy of the hindgut, including its blood supply and innervation.
Describe the location and function of the teniae coli.
Identify the major peritoneal structures and describe them.
Be able to interpret and draw a coronal section of the rectum and anal canal.
Describe the differences in blood supply, innervation and lymphatic drainage above and below the pectinate line
