Guidance on Completing a Faculty Level Appeal Form

Step 1 - Choose your grounds for appeal

First, you need to choose your grounds for appeal. These fall into two categories, which are:

  • Material Procedural Irregularity - this means that there has been an administrative error, that proper process has not been followed, or that the academic decision was not arrived at in accordance with the regulations of the course.
  • Unconsidered Extenuating Circumstances - this means that you were affected by events outside of your control and could not apply for an extension at the time.

You can appeal on more than one ground, but it is generally better to make a strong case on one ground. If your circumstances do not meet the grounds, an appeal is unlikely to succeed.

Step 2 - Explain how your situation meets your chosen ground/s

Next, you need to explain how your chosen ground/s applied to your situation. Click on your chosen ground below for a more detailed explanation and template of how to proceed.
