The Vikings have returned!
So why exactly is Lindisfarne known as ‘Holy Island’? Well not only is it the birth place of the Christian Faith for England, but the monks who resided here well over 1000 years ago, were responsible for creating a lasting legacy that has resulted in the majority of the UK following the Christian Faith. The ancient monastery attracted a lot of wealth and attention and it was this that led to the island being visited by some of the most pioneering warriors of their time, The Vikings. The first viking raid to the UK took place in AD 793 on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. They came back less than hundred years later as part of their quest to conquer all of the UK. Come explore one of the most beautiful areas of Northern England with Ragnar Lundgren as we show you some of the island’s most fascinating stories as well as taking in the breathtaking scenery and wildlife. On an island that can only be reached twice a day along a tidal causeway, we must try not to get stranded!!! Then onwards to Bamburgh Castle (the real Bebbanburg) for a Castle & Grounds Tour and vantage point for some fantastic coastal scenery.
