Sikh Fortress Turban Exhibition and Talk | FREE

A magnificent 'fortress turban' is on display at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens.

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to explore the story of the Sikh Turban; a distinctive symbol of Sikh faith and history.

The fortress turban is on loan from the British Museum.

It was used to protect the head in battle and to hold their weapons, including daggers, swords and metal throwing discs.

The exhibition runs until Sunday 16 November during usual opening hours.

On the 1st of November there will also be a talk about:

Sikh Weaponry and Spirituality
Saturday 1st Nov 2pm - 4pm @ Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens (please book in advance)

Joojhaar Singh and Jaswinder Singh from Newcastle Gurdwara will talk about the spiritual significance of weaponry in the Sikh faith.
