It’s May 11th and your Students’ Union celebrates its’ 84th Birthday today!!

The oldest document in our archive is the foundation paper of the original Students’ Union at the then Sunderland Technical College, dated May 11th 1928.

The main functions of that first Union in 1928 were:

1.    To represent the students in all matters affecting their interests.
2.    To afford a recognised means of communication between the students and the college authorities..
3.    To promote corporate life amongst the students of the college
4.    To promote social relationships with students of other colleges
