Your Elections 2019

Do you want to get a great job (with a great salary!) and make a real change for students in the process? If your answer is yes then running for election to be one of our SU Exec Officers could be just the opportunity you're looking for.

At Sunderland Students' Union, everything we do is for students and decided by students. We do this by having a dedicated Student Executive Team who are elected by you, the student body, to lead the organisation and make sure that your student voice is represented in the Union, within the University and more widely. They work closely with our permanent staff who provide the skills and experience needed to deliver the Students’ Union services.

The Exec is made up of 9 Officers, with both paid (Sabbatical) and voluntary (Non-Sabbatical) roles available. In this election, we will be electing our 3 full time Sabbatical Exec Officers.

If you're elected, you'll work with us full time for a year to shape the Union, make real change for students by campaigning on their behalf and help make the Sunderland student experience great for everyone. It's a great personal and professional development opportunity which will give you real skills for your future career, make you extra employable and give you valuable experience in decision making, problem solving, creativity, research and practical work skills. You'll be the voice of students at the University, have a platform to make real positive change and the support to make your ideas a reality. You'll also be paid a salary of £19,200 for the privilege.

Any student at the University is eligible to run for election - you can carry out the role either by taking a year out of your studies (a sabbatical year) or at the end of your studies if you're in your final year. All you need to do is nominate yourself for your chosen role and then campaign for votes from your fellow students. Your SU will be there to support you each step of the way - check out the links below to learn more about the positions available, craft the perfect manifesto to let students know why they should vote for you and most importantly nominate yourself for election!.

Please note: You may only nominate yourself for 1 full time Exec position.

Nominations will be open from 9am on 21 January 2019 - 5pm on 11 February 2019.

Voting will open from 9am on 26 February 2019 - 5pm on 1 March 2019.

Results will be announced at a special event organised by 2nd year Events Management Students on 8 March 2019.
