The role of the President: Wellbeing is to be the lead officer for students on welfare and safety policy development. They will ensure students get the highest experience in areas including, but not limited to, mental health, crime prevention, quality and diversity and accommodation. They will campaign to improve wellbeing within the University and local area and be the lead officer on all wellbeing projects.
I stood for the elections to help students to have a journey as fantastic (or better) than mine and also because I am aware of students struggles and I know that there’s so much being part of the Students' Union can do for them.
Make the sustainability committee even stronger and make more for sustainability at the university
Launch accommodation campaigns to tackle issues of poor housing and improve student rent rights
Launch a new committee for wellbeing champions and representatives
Improve scholarships and access to student support funding
Create opportunities to speak to students and be visible both digitally and on campus
Delivered inductions to new and returning students and recruited new students to be Wellbeing Champions
Launched a shopping dropping opportunity for students in accommodation
Extended SU Buddies in London
Lobbied the University to allow students to cancel their accommodation contracts (University accommodation) and also to obtain refunds from the time that lockdown started (4th January till 12th)
Working with environmental society to lobby the University to declare climate, biodiversity and society emergency
Working with University wellbeing team on how to support students that are in accommodation
Attended various SU socials and engaging with students
Listening to students feedback of what they feel they need / want
