National Student Volunteering Week is a fantastic opportunity for students to boost their skills, get involved and make a difference. It’s not only a great occasion to give and learn, but also to celebrate all the time and work you have put into volunteering!

Between the 8th and 12th of February choose to get involved in our wide range of activities such as First Aid Training and British Sign Language Workshop, help tackle isolation amongst older people through our Post Pal opportunity and celebrate SVW through our virtual social!

British Sign Language Taster Workshop

Developing skills in BSL is so much more than an important ‘gesture’. Take an active stand in contributing to an inclusive environment for friends, colleagues and strangers.

Join this session to learn about deaf awareness, the BSL alphabet and numbers, as well as some greetings and other various signs. This is a free to join workshop, delivered by professionals Deaf Tutor Maddie and Director Julie from Sign It Hear.

Adults First Aid training

How confident would you be in an emergency? Take part in this first aid session delivered by the British Red Cross and make sure you are always ready to act. 

This is an interactive workshop, run by an experienced British Red Cross educator, where you will tackle four first aid skills and have the opportunity to ask questions. The aim is to build confidence so you can help someone in a first aid emergency, using everyday objects that you have around you.

Post-Pal: Spread some love!

The spread of the Coronavirus has massively affected care homes across the UK, with residents feeling more isolated than usual. Join us in spreading some love, just in time for Valentine’s Day by making and sending a card to a resident of the Four Seasons Health Care Home in Sunderland and help tackle loneliness and isolation amongst older people.
