What is the opportunity?

A School Co-ordinator is a volunteer role, hosted by University of Sunderland Students Union, we are working in partnership with the university to appoint four School Coordinators at our London campus. 
We will expect the successful candidates to be currently studying in the school which they represent. To be eligible for this opportunity you will need to have one year’s experience of higher education, either at University of Sunderland or elsewhere. In exchange, you will receive training and skills development plus a £1000 stipend in recognition of the work required in this voluntary role. This role will run from March to September 2020. 

What is the role of a School Coordinator?

They work closely with fellow students, in particular Course Reps in their school, the Policy and Campaigns team at the SU and our Elected Officers, to engage with their academic development and to shape the University and broader communities.
You will represent student views within the School, fairly and accurately and take into account all students. You will be a member of The School Co-ordinators Steering Group – a joint partnership between the Students’ Union and The University of Sunderland

Who can apply?

To become a School Co-ordinator Volunteer, you must have at least one year’s prior experience of higher education and be a current student at University of Sunderland in London, and studying in the school you would like to represent.

For 2019 -20 we are looking for School Co-ordinators for the following schools:

•    School of Nursing and Health
•    School of Engineering
•    School of Business 
•    School of Tourism, hospitality and events

Assessment centre and Interviews in London: 25th Feb (You will need available on this date)

Assessment Centre- which will involve group activity and a two-minute presentation. 
Interviews – The interview will be individual and will consist of a panel of three people.

Key dates once in post: 
•    Invite to attend Training in Sunderland on 12th March – 13th March. 
     (Travel, accommodation and expenses will be covered)
•    26th March – Support and training in London.
•    Skype catch up in April (date TBC).
•    Wc 4th May (Dates TBC)- Support and Training in London.
•     Rep conference in Sunderland on 3rd June. 
      (Travel, accommodation and expenses will be covered
•    Skype in to June Representation steering group.
