Activities Forum

YOUR Students’ Union is launching Forums, a meeting where you can tell us what really matters to you and how your university experience is going. Any student is welcome to attend and be part of our Education, Wellbeing and Activities Forums. Each will be run by our Presidents, with you at the heart of the discussions and change.

At each Forum you will be able to:

  • meet with YOUR SU Presidents and ensure they’re representing you
  • tell us what you really think on matters that affect YOUR University experience
  • have your say on campaigns and influence future policies
  • propose ideas for change and mandate YOUR Presidents to make them happen
  • create and shape future SU opportunities which have an impact to students’ lives

Through the year at some forums we’ll be inviting guest speaks in to talk to students and offer extra training and opportunities to develop skills and knowledge. These will be advertised via the website and social media.

If you cannot make a Forum, YOU CAN still be part of the discussion and create change.

Officers will be updating their website pages with what they’ve been up to and sharing info on their social media on a regular basis. You can at any time, ask questions to them about their work by emailing yourvoice@sunderland.ac.uk. These will be raised for you at our Forums.

Make It Happen is also available as YOUR chance to make change. You can, at any time, propose an idea for change. All you need to do is gain enough support from fellow students (30 likes). If students agree and support you, YOUR SU will action it!

Activities Forum

The Activities Forum is the place for students involved in societies, volunteering and activities both on and off campus, to get together and discuss everything which makes you proud to be involved in extracurricular opportunities. Students are welcome to bring ideas and changes they’d like to see, as well as talk about the following:

  • Societies, student led groups and volunteering
  • Funding and investment for activity
  • Events and extracurricular activities
  • Employability and skills development opportunities
  • Rewards and recognition

Forums are inclusive, safe spaces for all students to attend and feel welcome. All students will be given the opportunity to have a say on matters raised and a platform to raise ideas. As part of the Forum, members of SU staff who support each area of activity will be present to ensure the smooth running of Forums and to answer technical questions about the Students’ Union.
