Student VoiceYour Feedback

How to let us know what you think

The Students’ Union have numerous methods of gathering your valuable feedback.
We’ve listed the main ones here and hope that you will use these to let us know what you think about your course and the services the Union and the University provide for you.

We can’t act for you or change things if we don’t know what we’re doing right or wrong, so give us your views, please.

Come along to Union Council meetings

Under the new governance structure of the Students’ Union, the new Union Council has been set up to replace Students’ Council (SC).  Union Council will has very similar remit and powers to SC, but will have a larger and broader constituency.

All students are welcome to attend and give their views or to raise issues they may have, but only the members of Union Council will be able to vote on issues discussed.

All student reps should attend as this is the forum where they can represent the students on their course and feedback their views, so that the Union can act on these with the University.

Annual General Meetings

The Students’ Union Annual General Meeting is held once a year, usually in November or December.

Contact our Executive Committee

The Students’ Union is led by our Executive Officers, who are elected by the student body.  The five Sabbatical Officers are our Officer Trustees.

Their main role is to represent all the students at Sunderland University on key University boards, committees and working groups.

In order to do that effectively, they need your feedback on both your academic and overall student experience.

They are based at the Union’s offices at the Edinburgh Building, City Campus and at Wearbank House, St Peter’s Campus, so please come in and see them at any time or email them.

Email, phone or visit us

The Students’ Union offices are based on the ground floor of Edinburgh building, City Campus and Wearbank House on the St Peter’s Campus (next door to North Shore).

Please get in contact or come and see us.

Join our social networking sites

Once you register on our website (check out the login on our home page) - which is very simple to do, if you haven’t already, you’ll have access to the many great social networking features and be able to build up your own profile and networking channels.

You’ll also find that we have blog features on the news and events sections of our website for you to leave your comments - many of you have been doing just that, which is great and means we can answer your queries straight away.

And, of course, we’ve got official Union groups on Facebook, Twitter and Utube, so join those and talk to us there.

Come to our Student Forums

We’re setting up Student Forums this year and details of those will be published very soon.

All students are welcome to come along.

The idea of Student Forums is to get students together to discuss a chosen topic which is related to their student experience at Sunderland - it might be about the general student experience or about specific University or Union services.

Fill in our web base questionnaires

From time to time, we’ll be asking you to fill in surveys and questionnaires for us.

We’ll mainly be doing these online, to make them easier to complete and submit.

So, help us make things even better by telling us what you want to see.

Take part in the University's surveys and questionnaires

Over the year, the University will be asking for your views on various topics.

The Student Voice section on the University’s website gives full details of this and tells you how they use your feedback to improve your student experience.

The Union regularly collaborates with the University to promote the main surveys and provide information to students on the actions taken as a result of the feedback given.

Examples of this include the National Student Survey (NSS), the QAA Audits and the Student Experience Survey.

You Said It, We did It

To find out what changes were put in place as a result of us acting on your feedback, have a look at our You Said It, We Did It section.

The University also has a Student Feedback section on their website where you can find out what they are doing as a result of your feedback.
