In brief:

Hi!  My name is Scott and I’m the Societies Officer for this academic year.

The position of Societies Officer is a non-sabbatical, unpaid position and I will endeavour to carry out this role to the best of my abilities in conjunction with my continuing studies.  My term of office will run until Easter 2008.   The hours that I will work during my time in office will be around 10 - 15 hours per week, the hours that I work can be increased if I am working on a particular project or they could occasionally need to be decreased due to coursework deadlines but as a general rule, I should be flexible enough to be able to accommodate the needs of the societies at any given time.

My roles as Societies Officer will include things like ensuring the promotion, provision and coordination of Societies and to organise events to encourage students to participate in activities offered by the Societies. I will be assisted by the Sports and Activities Officer in these events.

Supporting and encouraging Societies and organising publicity and public relations for teams, clubs and individuals also falls within my remit, plus the many and varied day-to-day duties arising from being an elected officer on the Executive Team.
