Welcome to Your Union

LGBT Officer.

To be elected.

For more information, go to our Elections page.

In brief:

This is a non sabbatical, unpaid position and carried out in conjunction with you continuing with your studies.   The term of office runs until Easter 2008.   The hours are expected to be about 10 - 15 hours per week, this can be more if you have a particular project you are working on or less druing coursework deadlines, therefore you will need to balance your time.

Being a member of the Executive Committee is a great opportunity to acquire and develop a host of general skills, such as written and verbal communication skills, project planning, networking, time management etc, etc.   Also, this can be good grounding and useful if you are considering taking on a sabbatical role on the Executive Committee in the future.

The elected officer will promote LGBT issues both internally and externally ensuring there is a channel of communication for LGBT students with the Students' Union and ensure there is proper representation within the University on LGBT issues.

Provide support and advice to the LGBT society.

Plus the many duties arising from being an elected officer on the Executive Team.

Until such time as an officer is elected, if you have any LGBT-related queries, please contact Ken Fryer, the International, Equality and Diversity Officer.
