KAY THOMPSON
In brief:
I am in charge of organising nights out and events for the Union. I’ll be working alongside the other members of the Executive Committee to create both days and nights out that are of interest to anyone and, hopefully, everyone.
Many people believe my job is just to create nights out and that’s the job done. However it is not that simple; it’s my job to meet with my colleagues and discuss an entertainments plan for not just the week ahead, but plan a program for the rest of the academic year which will hopefully leave everyone feeling that they've had a thoroughly enjoyable year in Sunderland.
I’m happy to hear from anyone who feels they have an idea that will be of interest to students for nights out and will be more that happy to try and fit it in and discuss the idea further.
I also over see the campaigns that the Union puts on. I work closely with the Education and Welfare Officer, Lynsey, to create awareness of charities and of the fundraising events the Union are hosting in aid of the various charities that we support over the course of the year. Again, if you feel strongly towards a particular charity and feel the Union can help with fundraising events, let me know.
