ROLES

The crux of my role is to ensure students make the most of their time at university.  However, that is a much simplified job desription and, in reality, I deal with people from many different support organisations, both within and without the University, in order to maintain a high quality of service.  If you need any advice on pretty much any subject, come and see me and I'll be able to help you out.

I also attend various meetings with the University as a representative of the student body, to make sure that your interests are best served and that your voice is heard.  That, in itself, is a good reason to take note of when things like Students' Council take place.  That's your opportunity to tell the exec your opinions so that we can represent them for you during the University's decision-making process.

I also organise charity events throughout the year.  You'll find a lot of the events that happen over the course of the year are designed with two purposes in mind.  Primarily we like to make everything enjoyable and fun and, in fairness, we like to enjoy ourselves just as much as you guys.  And as a side effect of all this fun we're having, we get to make a load of cash for various charities.  You'll find numerous different charities represented over the course of the year and, if there's a specific charity you'd like us to take a look at, just let me know and I'll check it out.

Additionally, I work with and promote the advice centre.  This basically means that whenever I can't help you myself, there's a whole team of dedicated support staff to whom I can refer you so you can always get the right advice.

And finally, I run awareness campaigns.  There are various campaigns running at various times and I try to cover as many subjects as possible.  Below is a series of links to pages with informartion about some of the campaigns and subjects I cover.  Please familiarise yourself with any of the subjects that are unfamiliar as, in many instances, education is the first big step towards a solution.
