Park Lane Interchange - Park Lane Interchange in Sunderland is the second-busiest bus station in the United Kingdom after Victoria Coach Station in London. It is located on the south western fringe of Sunderland City Centre and was opened in 1999.
A Tyne & Wear Metro station directly underneath opened in 2002 for quick travel within Sunderland and Newcastle. A change in services means that Park Lane's westbound platform is now used only for through Metro trains to South Hylton. Those trains which terminate at Park Lane cross over onto the northbound platform for passengers to alight.
The Interchange also serves as a major destination for National Express coach services direct to London and to destinations across the United Kingdom.
Penshaw Monument Chester Road Penshaw
Situated at the top of Penshaw Hill this monument proves to be a remarkable sight. Built in 1844, in honour of the first Earl of Durham, John George Lambton. It is located opposite Herrington Country Park. PenshawMonument was modelled on the Thesion, the Temple of Theseus in Athens. Penshaw stands magnificently above the city on a limestone hill in the middle of the Great North Forest and affords views as far afield as Durham Cathedral and the North Pennines.

This space-age looking station has already won a prestigious 'Centre Vision' award at the Millennium National Civic Trust Awards. The interchange is an innovative development that integrates bus, coach, taxis and the metro train services. The Interchange is now the second busiest bus station in the country but with its efficient sweeping structure and ambient music, passengers may not be aware of that fact.
