Sports Person of the Year
The Students' Union Sports Personality of the Year Award is now entering its tenth year. The competition had some outstanding nominations in 2007, coming from a large selection of sports ranging from Rugby to Triathlon. This is the chance for students to vote for other students, in recognition of great sporting prowess. For more information contact the Sports and Recreation Team or the Sports and Activities Officer
The current holder of the Sports person of the year award is Andrew Burton for his outstanding performances in Boxing. His achievements include a WUMA world title, WUMA European title and the EKU British title. Congratulations Andrew and keep up the hard work!
Clubs and Societies Awards
At the end of each year there is the Sports and Rec ball and it is here when we give out annual awards. All colours recipients, team and individuals will be presented.
All awards are decided by information given on an application form by the clubs and societies prior to the awards ceremony, and judged by the sport and recreation committee.
The following awards are available:
- CLUB COLOURS
- Outstanding work for an individual club.
- FULL UNION COLOURS
- Above and beyond the call of duty for the sport and recreation department as a whole.
- HALF UNIVERSITY COLOURS
- Representing the University at county level.
- FULL UNIVERSITY COLOURS
- Representing the University at national level.
THE SOCIETY THAT BEST REPRESENTS THE GOOD NAME OF USSU.
THE INDIVIDUAL WHO BEST REPRESENTED THE GOOD NAME OF USSU.
THE SOCIETY WHO ACHIEVED MOST FOR IT'S MEMBERS.
THE INDIVIDUAL WHO ACHIEVED THE MOST FOR THEIR MEMBERS.
There are also awards decided upon by the sports and recreation committee, which will be announced on the night of the awards dinner.
