Welcome to Your Union

Setting up a Club or Society

It couldn't be easier to set up a club or society. Simply pay a visit to the Sports and Recreation Department and we will provide you with the appropriate forms and advice. The proposed club/society, however diverse or bizarre, will be welcomed and assistance will be given in any way we can, provided they fit the criteria for status (below).

CRITERIA FOR FULL STATUS

  • The club/society must be open to all members of the Students' Union.
  • The aims of a club/society must be sufficiently different from those of any other club/society.
  • The Constitution of that club/society must not contravene any Union statutes, policies or regulations.
  • The club/society must not be course related.
  • Once the club/society is approved, a minimum of 15 members must each pay a joining fee of £5.00 (sporting club) or £3.00 (society). The club/society can then access union minibuses and administrative aid. Once the club/society has run for a year they are eligible to apply for a budget, which can be used to buy kit, equipment, pay for speakers etc. If you want to make the most of university life, joining a club or society is a must!
