About Us

The LGBT Society offer an environment where people can come and enjoy themselves regardless of there sexuality. Whether you screamed out of the closet aswell as the womb, or are just exploring your sexuality we are here for you and to some peoples suprise, when we say whatever your sexuality thats exactly what we mean... hetrosexuals are welcome!

We regularly meet through a variety of events, whether it be a wild night out, or at more a discreet coffee morning/afternoon. Our calendar for this year is filling up with host events from out Xmas Masquarade Ball, A Trip away to London, Nights out in Newcastle, Coffee Afternoons and excursions with Local LGBT Groups as well as the plans to 'walk with pride' at Pride in Manchester ( and across the counrty) next summer.

I think the important thing to get across is that we are here in whatever capacity you require us. If you just want to join us to meet other people away from the 'scene', or wish to explore you sexality without the world and their wife finding out, you're even welcome if you just want to have a good time!

We have links through the Union and other organisations to Advice networks, who can help you whatever your worries.

Coming to University and moving away from home is a huge step of freedom for most people, and its often the period where they find the courage to answer those questions which have been bothering them for years. A high percentage of our members have 'come out' whilst at University and have never looked back. The support and exchange of experience offered by the group can be a great help!

The Society has a confidentiality agreement - we will not give out your name or details to anyone in connection to this society, with out your permission.

We also campaign as a society, against homophobia, particularly on campus! But we are willing to get involved in most things so if you have an idea then just let us know!

Everyone is Welcome; we offer respect, advice, friendship, confidentiality, support and laughter!
