There is only one train station in Sunderland, Sunderland Central. Few trains travel across the country directly into Sunderland. You will usually need to travel into Newcastle and change.
From Newcastle, Sunderland is directly serviced by both trains and the Metro system, both take about 30 minutes, the choice is yours!
Metro trains run from Sunderland Central:
- Take metro in the direction of South Hylton and get off at University
- Cross the bridge to the opposite side of the Metro Station and follow the path to the main road, Edinburgh Building will be infront of you and is visable from the station. It is the 60's style tower block.
- Take the Metro North and get off at St Peters
St Peters is on the main road under Wearmouth Bridge. To the left of the station is a crossing, cross here and follow Dame Dorothy Street straight ahead until you see signs for the University to your right. Follow this road round (Charles Street) and Wearbank house is near the bottom on the left
