Rowan Ross
Hi, my name is Rowan Ross and I'm a post graduate student studying Tourism and Events. I have been living in Sunderland for the past 3 years and managed to achieve a degree in International Tourism and Management from Sunderland University. I am from Hackney, East London which is known as a vibrant multi-cultural area which attracts people from all different backgrounds, races and religions from around the world.
I believe being a student is hard enough, but being an overseas student can be quite challenging, getting to understand a new culture, a different language, different regional accents and generally fitting into everyday life.
As the International Officer for Sunderland my role is to provide a bridge to help International students find their way around Sunderland, whether this may mean helping with any of many services that the university provides, introducing you to a variety of social, leisure, recreational activities and services that Sunderland has to offer. I am very approachable and welcome all overseas students to come and meet me at the Student Union Office or simply telephone me or email me on the contact details provided.
