Funding for on campus activities

Do you have a great idea for an event? Do you have skills to share, events to celebrate or a plan that will make our University campus THE place to be?

The Students' Union in partnership with the University is now welcoming bids for funding from any student (or group of students!) with a great idea for an event or activity that you want to organise on campus.

All you have to do to apply for funding is complete this application form. Your event could be anything at all, as long as it takes place on one of our 3 campuses (City Campus, St Peter's Campus or London Campus) and will help create a happy campus. Examples of events could include music, dance, theatre, film, demonstrations of sports and “have a go” opportunities, cultural and faith festivals. Activities can include small pop-up style events or larger staged events - it's up to you!

You can bid for any amount from £50 to £500 so there's plenty of scope to be as creative as you like - the more creative the better! Please note that events should be scheduled for at least 4 weeks after the application date!

If your bid is successful, the next thing you’ll need to do is notify the University Events Office (and also let them know if you’re planning to have any external speakers). You’ll be sent the relevant forms which you’ll need to complete and email to notify@sunderland.ac.uk at least two weeks before your event. It’s also important that they’re approved by your Dean, Director or Head of Services for Students and Marketing, if you’re at University of Sunderland in London, before you send to the Events Office.

The Students’ Union, Institute of Sport, University of Sunderland in London and University Events Office can all offer advice and assistance with planning your event. However you’ll be responsible for organising your own event and notifying the relevant people in Facilities, booking catering, etc.

If you'd like to chat through your idea before making an application for funding please get in touch with the Students’ Union, Institute of Sport or University of Sunderland in London via the contacts provided in the application form.

Good luck!
